Oliver Burns is a 2012-2013 corps member serving on the Westfield Capital Management team at the Neighborhood House Charter School in Dorchester.
Before Thanksgiving, the Boston Civic Engagement team organized service projects to benefit the homeless, the hungry and the youth in Boston. More than 200 volunteers and corps members united in service on November 16, 2012.
While some volunteers were stationed at City Year Headquarters, other groups worked on outdoor projects. Small groups cleaned up Franklin Park Zoo, others teamed up with local nonprofits to help the Boston community. In the pictures you’ll see the outcomes of a few of the service projects at The Salvation Army site in the South End. Corps member Dan Sheets-Poling put finishing touches on a bench, which he and a few other volunteers built. You can also see a mural of the Boston sports teams painted throughout the building.
